After two years of online events, finally we are organizing an on-site RoboCup@Home Education Challenge event at the RoboCup 2022 Bangkok in July 2022. The event will run in both online and on-site tracks, comprising a series of robot building short courses for beginners via online classroom with live streaming of remote participation online challenge, and on-site hands-on workshop with face-to-face participation on-site competition in Bangkok. We hope everyone around the world can join us together in RoboCup development and challenges regardless of travel restrictions.

With that, we are proud to announce the RoboCup@Home Education Workshop & Challenge 2022!

*** The purpose of the Education Challenge is to open participation for everyone, especially novice and non-expert participants with no past experience. Although we don’t conduct the selection procedure this time, we will comply with the Eligibility and Qualification policy in the Rules 2022 in the reviews of the challenges. ***

Step 0 - Intend To Participate (Entry Application)

Fill in the "Intend To Participate" (Entry Application) form below (one form per team) to stay in touch and get access to our activities.

Step 1 - Kick-Off Webinar 2022

Attend the Kick-Off Webinar for the introduction and details of the entire event.

Step 2 - Online Classroom

Attend the online classroom especially for beginners to learn how to develop for the Education Challenge at home. If you couldn't attend the classes or the class timing is not suitable for your region, there are also recorded videos and class notes posted after each class. Make full use of the materials to learn robot development at home.

Step 3 - Technical Review & Challenge

Develop your robot and produce 1. Technical Video and 2. Technical Paper of your best robot performance. You can develop your robot based on the following themes (either one):

  • Solving the competition tasks in the Rules 2022.

  • Open scenario based on the Finals in the Rules 2022.

  • Robot applications to address the current COVID-19 pandemic situation (based on Finals in the Rules 2022).

(Optional) 3. Team Website showing the educational efforts of team in promoting education of technical development. E.g. open source code with development guides and tutorials (in text or video), learning course materials, online classroom etc.

After submitting the entry application, please prepare the technical materials and submit before the following due date.

Technical Materials:

  1. Technical Video: Video showing the best robot performance. [References]

  2. Technical Paper: Technical report and photo of the robot system and operation in the video. [References]

  3. Team Website for Best Education Award. (Optional)

** Technical Video: Format mp4, minimum resolution 1080p, English subtitles for non-English contents.

** Please host the video file online and submit only the download link.

** Technical Paper: Free format (recommended to use @Home TDP format), maximum A4 size 4 pages.

  • Make sure your team has submitted the Intend To Participate (Entry Application)

  • Make sure to fill in the same information as in the Entry Application: Team Leader/Mentor Name and Email Address

  • Make sure to put your Team Name as the file name of the Technical Paper

  • Due of the Technical Materials Submission: May 27, 2022

Step 4 (Online) - Online Challenge (Final)

The Technical Materials submission entries will be reviewed to select (online) teams for the final Online Challenge. Selected teams will give presentation and robot demonstration remotely via live streaming for the Online Challenge during the pre RoboCup week.

All selected teams are required to complete RoboCup 2022 registration before the deadline in June 2022.

  • All @Home Education teams (regardless high school or university teams) are subjected to the RoboCup JUNIOR Leagues registration.

  • Online Challenge only requires Team fee.

  • Mentor, Student and Junior Parent/Chaperone fees are not required.

Step 4 (On-site) - On-site Workshop & Challenge

The Technical Materials submission entries will be reviewed to select (on-site) teams for the On-site Workshop & Challenge at the RoboCup 2022 Bangkok.

All selected teams are required to complete RoboCup 2022 registration before the deadline in June 2022.
